Dolya

8Justice

Arcanum 8 of 22.

Justice: a crowned figure enthroned between two pillars, an upright sword in one hand and a level pair of scales in the other, a drawn curtain behind.
Drawn by Pamela Colman Smith for the Rider-Waite deck, 1909. Public domain. The card is printed XI: Rider-Waite gives Justice the number 11, and Dolya gives it 8.

What the card is

Balance, and cause and effect. Justice weighs a situation and keeps the account: acts have results, and this card is interested in the link between them. It covers fairness, honesty and clear sight. It concerns accountability, and how evenly the parts of a life are weighted.

The same paragraph stands behind this number on every chart that holds it. It describes the card, not the person holding it.

Where it can land

A Destiny Matrix chart has nine seats and each one holds a number from 1 to 22. Any of the nine can hold 8.

Whichever of them holds it, the card is the same card, and 8 covers fairness, honesty and clear sight. What a seat decides is the register it is read in, and there are six of those across the nine, because the four corners share one. What each register actually reads as, in words written to the person whose chart it is, sits behind that number on a chart rather than here.

Day point

Character: how a person acts, and what comes naturally.

Month point

Feeling: how it moves through a person, and what they need to feel safe.

Year point

The tasks of the first half of life: the work it keeps setting.

Karmic point

The lesson carried: the pattern that repeats until it is worked.

Center

What the soul rests on: the thing that genuinely feeds a person.

The four corners

Each corner is a pattern handed down. The two family lines run as diagonals, which is why each name appears twice: father from the top left to the bottom right, mother from the top right to the bottom left.

The 22 names follow the Marseille deck, where 8 is Justice, 11 is Strength and 22 is the Fool. Rider-Waite decks swap the first two and count the Fool as 0, so this is a difference in deck, not a mistake in the chart.
